Abstract
The first question to be tackled when estimating such a function is to decide on the appropriate variables to be included. Conventional theory suggests that money demand should depend on some measure of economic activity, normally income, and some variable representing the opportunity cost of holding money, usually a short-term interest rate or an inflation rate.
