Abstract
Approaching the 45th anniversary of the introduction of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the psychiatric nomenclature, Brewin et al1 have written a masterful review of the history and current status of research on this condition. This allows us to reflect on the level of our knowledge and think about the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.
