Abstract
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) poses a growing threat to global health with the World Health Organisation (WHO) identifying it as one of the leading world health concerns. In response, this thesis focuses on developing metal-based compounds as innovative therapeutic agents aiming to overcome the limitations of current antimicrobials. The central aim of this thesis is to explore the synthesis and properties of iron(II), silver(I) and rhenium(I) complexes bearing tetrazolate ligands. Particular attention is given to the photophysical and photochemical properties of these compounds and their potential for antimicrobial applications.
