Abstract
Managers of corporations increasingly find themselves in quandaries over ethics. In the past few years, Ireland has seen a number of business scandals. The few existing studies of Irish business managers indicate that many engage in inconsistent thinking about ethical practices. Attitudes of 348 Irish managers obtained from a stratified random sampling of the 1993 Golden Pages list of companies and the Business and Finance list of the top 1000 Irish companies toward eleven ethically questionable activities are measured on a Likert scale. The importance of the lack of ethical codes in traditional Irish corporate culture is discussed.
