Abstract
In focusing on some possible ways that schools can nurture
responsible and participative citizens, the intention in this
presentation is to use Transition Year as a particular lens.
The plan is also to identify some of the obstacles within
schools that inhibit realizing these aspirations. The
selection of issues is informed especially by Attitudes to
Transition Year (Jeffers, 2007) a research report
commissioned by the Department of Education and
Science.
