The closure of the Bab El-Mandab Strait amid the escalation of the Gaza War caused a significant disruption to the Suez Canal trade corridor. This was not the corridor's first disruption: in 2021,the Ever Given container vessel blocked the waterway and left global trade in chaos, with adverse implications for prices and product availability. But where the majority of reports and articles have emphasised the global effect of Suez Canal disruption on supply chains and logistics, very few have considered the domestic effects on the local firms and logistics networks operating in the region itself. This is the first report of its kind to investigate the impact of the Red Sea Blockage (RSB) on the domestic logistics network operating in the Suez Canal region and the counter-measures applied to respond and adapt. The report offers a Supply Chain Resilience Roadmap that guides businesses from crisis to competitive advantage, structured across three phases — Anticipation & Alignment, Stabilise & Adapt, and Reconfiguration & Strengthen — and underpinned by six capability areas observed in practice.
