Abstract
In this paper we consider voice calls in 802.11e infrastructure mode networks. We demonstrate that in standard 802.11 WLANs it is throttling of voice traffic at the access point that is the primary limitation on voice call capacity. We demonstrate that a straightforward 802.11e prioritisation strategy avoids this throttling and yields close to the theoretical maximum call capacity.
