Abstract

The apparatus (1) has a conveying device (4) insertable partially through a wound opening for conveying a surgical device i.e. wound retractor device (2), through a wound opening. A separate holder element (5) holds the surgical device in a low-profile configuration, and is formed separately from the conveying device. The holder element is disassembled from the conveying device after conveying of the surgical device through the opening, where the holder element comprises a circumferential discontinuity. The holder element engages with an external surface of a tissue.
